This morning Google experienced a world wide service outage. Many people experienced issues logging into their gmail accounts and accessing applications like Drive Sync, Google Chat, etc.
So, What exactly Happened?
At this time it is unclear why the outage occurred. Thankfully, it did not last very long and all Google Workplace applications are currently working. If you would like to monitor the status of Google Workspace applications, please check the Google Workspace Status Dashboard.
Is there anything that I need to do?
Yes! Please make sure to:
Log back into all of your Google apps, including Drive File Stream
Use Google Drive!!
Google Drive protects you from data loss. It is a great place to store your files, email attachments, and even photos.
Using drive also makes for much easier collaborations on documents and files. For example, you can use it to send large attachments with ease.
Drive also makes it easier to locate stored or shared files with the power of Google Search. You can also easily store email attachments, such as PDFs, in your drive.
Drive is also accessible from any computer, tablet, or device.
