The Networking Department within IT Services has been working hard over the last two years to upgrade all of the wireless access points throughout the campus. This includes both dorm and academic spaces.
The wireless upgrades were completed on Thursday, September 5, 2019. These new wireless access points are faster, more reliable, and much stronger than the previous wireless access points that were installed. Because of these vast improvements, ITS will be changing the wireless SSIDs that are currently being broadcasted throughout campus.
Currently, Manhattan College community members have the option to connect to one of three wireless SSID networks: Jaspernet-legacy, Jaspernet, or Jaspernet5. Starting on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 6AM, the only wireless network that will be broadcasted will be Jaspernet.
If your device is configured to automatically connect to Jaspernet-legacy or Jaspernet5, you will need to configure your device to automatically connect to Jaspernet instead. If your device was already configured to automatically connect to the Jaspernet wireless network, you will not need to make any changes.
If you have any questions or need help connecting your device to Jaspernet wireless network, you can contact ITS at 718-862-7973 or via email at its@manhattan.edu.

Dorm Wifi Feedback Form
Students, welcome back to another semester here at Manhattan College!
Over the last year, ITS has been making strides to improve the wireless networks across all of campus, including in all of the dorms. Last summer, ITS was able to upgrade all of the wireless access points in Overlook Manor and this summer, the Networking Team worked diligently to upgrade the wireless access points installed throughout Jasper Hall, Chrysostom Hall, Lee Hall, and Horan Hall in hopes to improve the wireless reliability and stability. If you are experiencing any wireless issues in your dorm, please let us know by filling out the Dorm Wifi Feedback form! These forms greatly help us improve wireless in the dorms.
There are a couple of ways you can access the form to provide your wifi feedback:

Improvements are coming to the campus-wide wifi network
ITS will be improving campus-wide Wifi service throughout the semester.

We are aware of improvements that the Manhattan College community needs urgently. We receive frustrated complaints about inadequate coverage in various parts of the campus. We know how this seriously hampers your work at Manhattan College, and we take it seriously. One way we are addressing this is by actively working to recruit a new employee to work in the Networking group. This new person would plan and build the network as needed. We have posted the job opening on the Manhattan College Job Openings page.
Wifi coverage has increased sharply in recent years. While frustration is high, it is also worth pointing out that it's now better than ever. That's not enough for some of us who are in various parts of the campus, particularly some dormitory areas, so we plan to improve those as soon as possible.

We welcome suggestions, and this includes areas which you feel need most improvement. Call 718-862-7973 or email its@manhattan.edu. Also follow us on Twitter @MC_ITS for announcements and updates.

Wireless Projection - Campus Classrooms Receive AirPlay Upgrade
Airplay technology has been added to 85 campus classrooms
(and counting...) as well as a number of conference and meeting rooms to enable wireless connectivity to the room projector. Airplay works natively with any Apple laptop or IOS (iPhone and iPad) device as well as any Faculty laptop received through recent FLI cycles (enabled by the use of AirParrot software installed on Faculty laptops). ** Faculty with a laptop older than 1-2 years should contact ITS to enable Airplay on their device (requires installation of AirParrot software).
A list of campus spaces with Airplay technology can be found online in the new 25Live Event planning system by selecting the room feature "Tech-Airplay Connector". Airplay upgrades were completed over the summer by a team of ITS student interns that worked together of various aspects of the project.

Tell ITS
#TellITS - ITS needs your help identifying and reporting technology issues on campus. ITS has implemented new ways to alert us to technology issues so that we can help resolve them sooner. If you see an issue, loose cable, or something that just doesn't look right - we want to know about it!
Have you noticed the new signage on campus “Tell ITS”? You should be seeing it on fliers, digital signage and on computers around campus.
ITS has taken steps to improve response time and has increased coverage at the Client Services office to ensure that we can quickly respond to technology issues in classrooms while classes are scheduled. Please see our updated Hours of Operations site here.

In order to better guarantee that the technology in the classrooms and labs function correctly, the frequency of room checks has increased to at minimum once per week. We are doing our best to improve the service provided to the community, but we can't do it alone.
If you come across a technology issue on campus, please do not hesitate to report it to its@manhattan.edu or 718-862-7973 immediately. For your convenience, you may also report issues or provide us with feedback by double clicking on the Tell ITS icon on the desktop of all public computers on campus or any ITS webpage. You can also access this form via http://manhattan.edu/tellits. You will be directed to fill out a brief online form, just like the one below, detailing the nature of the issue and/or providing feedback. The faster we know about an issue, the faster we can resolve it. We need your help to make sure that issues are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.
