Client Services Requests Phone Only Until Single Sign On (SSO) Fixed

Update: As of 8:38AM Single Sign On (SSO) is back up.

Due to the Single Sign On (SSO) outage ITS Is unable to login to our ticketing system. If you need immediate assistance, please call (718)862-7973. We will update this post when SSO becomes available.

Single Sign On (SSO) Issue Affecting Login to Manhattan College Services

Update: As of 8:38AM Single Sign On (SSO) is back up. 

At approximately 8:00AM today we became aware of an issue with our Single Sign On (SSO) service. This is the service that controls login to the majority of Manhattan College Systems. Any system using your Jaspernet Login is affected (Banner, Gmail, Moodle, etc). Until the issue is resolved, you will be unable to login to these services. If you are already logged in, you will remain logged in until the service times out. We are investigating the issue currently and will provide an update when we have more information.

JasperNet SSO Updates


ITS will be updating the JasperNet SSO system throughout the week.  As a result, users will be directed to an updated login page.


JasperNet services will be migrated to the new login page throughout the week.  We do not anticipate any downtime or service interruptions during this update.

RESOLVED: JasperNet Authentication Issue

The issue affecting JasperNet Authentication (SSO login) has been resolved.

JasperNet Authentication Issue

ITS has identified an issue affecting JasperNet Authentication (SSO login on secure.manhattan.edu).  As a result, users attempting to sign-in to JasperNet services are being issued an "Authentication Failed.  Try Again" error.  We are aware of the issue and working to resolve.

RESOLVED: SSO Intermittent Issues

A solution to the intermittent SSO issues reported on Tuesday has been applied overnight.  ITS has confirmed that this solution has resolved the reported issues.

Due to a bug in the most recent version of our SSO software, ITS reverted our SSO system to the older version that was in place prior to last weekends upgrade.  The bug in the newer version has been reported to our software provider and we are awaiting confirmation that the bug has been patched before reapplying the update.

SSO Intermittent Issues

ITS has received reports of intermittent issue with JasperNet SSO (Single Sign On).  We have confirmed that sessions that have expired (timeout) are causing an error when you try to re-login to any JasperNet service.

The work-around for this issue is to close your web browser (or reboot your computer).

ITS is actively working to identify the root cause of this issue and resolve.  As a result, there may be a brief interruption of service when attempting to login to JasperNet services throughout the day.

JasperNet SSO Maintenance: Friday, 9/1, 9:00 - 9:30 PM

ITS will be performing system maintenance on the JasperNet Single Sign On (SSO) system starting Friday 9/1 at 9:00 PM.  The maintenance is expected to take less than 30 minutes.  After 9:00 PM and until maintenance is complete, anyone already connected to JasperNet services should be able to function normally; however, any new attempts to login to JasperNet services will not be processed until maintenance is complete.

What is affected?


The SSO authentication system (login) to all JasperNet services will be unavailable after 9:00 PM until maintenance is complete.  JasperNet services will still be online, however, any new attempts to login after 9:00 PM will not be processed until the maintenance is complete.  Services with a longer timeout, such as Google Apps and Gmail, as well as app-based services will largely be unaffected by this maintenance.

Maintenance Complete - JasperNet SSO

The schedule maintenance for JasperNet SSO has been completed.  The total downtime for this maintenance was between 11:00AM-12:30PM on Friday 6/23.

JasperNet SSO Maintenance - Friday 6/23 10AM

ITS will be performing critical system maintenance on the JasperNet Single Sign On (SSO) system starting Friday 6/23 at 10AM.  After 10AM, anyone already connected to JasperNet services should be able to function normally; however, any new attempts to login to JasperNet services will not be processed.


What is affected?
The SSO authentication system (login) to all JasperNet services will be unavailable after 10AM.  JasperNet services will still be online, however, any new attempts to login after 10AM will not be processed.  Services with a longer timeout, such as Google Apps and Gmail, as well as app-based services will largely be unaffected by this maintenance.  

ITS recommends that anyone who needs to access JasperNet services on Friday login BEFORE 10AM.  Services with stricter security policies, such as Banner and Self-Service, will not function if they are allowed to timeout.


Why 10AM on 6/23?
While ITS typically schedules service-affecting maintenance for off-peak periods (such as overnight), the maintenance being performed on Friday requires the support of our software vendor Ellucian and must be done during normal business hours to ensure that the appropriate vendor support personnel are available.  The planned maintenance is the result of an issue experienced during an overnight update performed in May.  Friday 6/23 is the first available window when most of the College is closed but vendor support resources are available.


When will the maintenance be completed?
It is anticipated that the maintenance will take approximately 2 hours.  Since some troubleshooting will be involved, ITS has not defined an end to the maintenance window.  Updates will be posted at ITSblog - http://itsblog.manhattan.edu/

COMPLETED - Brief authentication outage this evening, starting around 9:00 PM

There will be a brief outage this evening while ITS performs routine maintenance on the main authentication server. The maintenance will start around 9:00 PM and may last up to an hour.

During the maintenance no new sessions will be able to be created. Basically, you won't be able to log in to your JasperNet account during this time. Any already-open sessions, however, will not be interrupted. For example, if you're already logged into your email before 9:00 PM, you'll still be able to access your email during the maintenance window. Your session will not be destroyed. But if you need to log into your email from a new computer or something, at 9:05 PM, you will not be able to do so until the maintenance is complete.

This blog post will be updated as we have more information and/or updates.

COMPLETED - Emergency system maintenance late Thursday evening (after 1:00 AM) into Friday

Please be advised, ITS will be performing emergency system maintenance late in the evening this Thursday into Friday, 3/3/2017 after 1:00 AM. The system maintenance will temporarily affect a number of vital services. The affected services include:

  • Verify and POS stations (the One Card Database will be down temporarily)
  • Evisions
  • DegreeWorks
  • Paypal transactions
Services should be restored within 2 hours of the start of the interruption.

Moodle Login Page - Temporary Fix

ITS has received feedback  that some Moodle users may be experiencing issues when accessing Moodle for the first time each day.  We have identified an issue with the login page and are working to resolve the issue.  In the meantime, ITS has implemented an alternate login page for Moodle.  Until a solution is in place, you may notice a different login page for Moodle.

Moodle Login Update - JasperNet SSO

An update was applied to Moodle overnight that changes the login page
from an older version of JasperNet SSO to the current version that has been in use since the spring.  Previously, Moodle users may have noticed a login page that looked different from all other JasperNet services and were required to login a 2nd time to Moodle.  The update configures Moodle to use the same JasperNet SSO login page as all other JasperNet services.

Moodle users who have connected to Moodle in the last few days may need to restart their web browsers if they encounter an error when attempting to login to Moodle for the first time after the update - which is the result of a browser cache issue.  Restarting the web browser has shown to resolve this problem.  Anyone experiencing this issue should report it to ITS by calling x7973 or emailing its@manhattan.edu  You can also use our online form to #TellITS.

Self-Service Timeout Update

An update has been applied to the Self-Service timeout page to present a clearer message to users and provide a more intuitive link to reconnect to the Self-Service system.  When a session exceeds the 60-minute inactivity timeout, users will be forwarded to the following updated timeout screen:

First, a message will inform the user that a timeout has occurred.

An orange button for SingleSignOn will be available to reconnect to Self-Service as well as a login box for legacy CWID/PIN access.  The preferred method of access is via the orange SSO button to "Sign In" using your JasperNet ID.

25Live Login Changes

An update has been applied to the 25Live login page to streamline the login process.  Users accessing 25Live are no longer required to click the "Sign In" button.  Going forward, users will be directed to the main dashboard of 25Live.

Users experiencing issues with the new streamlined login process should report issues to ITS by emailing ITS@manhattan.edu or calling x7973.
