Transitioning to Remotely

In order to provide a better experience for remote learning and computing, ITS is transitioning away from Apporto and switching to the Manhattan College Remotely Platform. You can access Remotely by going to https://remotely.manhattan.edu, and logging in with your Manhattan College Credentials. More information about logging into Remotely can be found in this Knowledge Base article.

On Remotely, you can access any computer lab and software that you would by visiting a computer lab in person. For a list of what software is available and where, please refer to this Knowledge Base article.

Users will be able to log in to Apporto until 4:30PM Monday, October 5th, 2020 in order to move any saved files off of Apporto. Files can be backed up using Google Drive. After this time, users will no longer be able to log in to Apporto and any files saved there will be lost. Please note that during this time, software on Apporto will not work.

If you have any questions, please contact ITS at its@manhattan.edu.

Students and Faculty can now access campus software Remotely

Access to campus computer labs and software is now available to students studying Remotely.  A new service of the same name has been implemented over the summer in response to restrictions presented by COVID-19.
Windows applications stacked

To accommodate social distancing requirements, every other seat in campus classrooms and computer labs has been left vacant - reducing classroom capacity by at least half.  In computer labs with fixed seating, this meant that every other computer could not be used and would sit idle.  Seeing an opportunity, ITS worked to implement a solution that could use the computing power of the unused workstations to provide students studying remotely access to the same experience as those students sitting in the room.

To access campus computer labs Remotely, locate the following icon in Quicklinks or search for "Remotely":

Remotely Quicklinks Icon

The main page for Remotely contains a list of rooms available for remote access as well as instructions for accessing these resources.  All you need is a web browser!

List of Software Requestable for Manhattan College Owned Devices

In our continued efforts to provide exceptional customer service, we have created a new Knowledge Base Article (KBA) that lists all software that is available for installation on Manhattan College owned computers.  This list is a work in progress.  We are constantly working with vendors to secure the most cost efficient licensing options for the College.  We do not have all available software listed yet.  We are inventorying all software and listing once we confirm.  Here is a link to the KBA.
